Maryjo Floryjanski

Maryjo was born in Ohio and presently resides in the South where she enjoys a beach city residence.

While attaining her art degree in Charlotte, North Carolina she was encouraged by faculty members to pursue graduate school.  Maryjo researched the idea and was awarded a Posey Scholarship to pursue painting at a graduate level.  She moved back to Ohio where she completed her graduate degree from Akron University.

For the next few years she taught art in the public schools and continued to paint.  She exhibited paintings in juried shows and worked on a commission basis.  She also launched a line of greeting cards and hand painted pillows for specialty retailers.

A recent move to Southwest Florida has provided additional artistic opportunities.  She continues to paint and exhibits regularly.  Her recent exhibitions include The Venice Art Center “Flowers and Floryjanski” (Venice, FL); the ArtCenter Manatee “Themes and Variations” (Bradenton, FL);  the 6th Biennial National Art Exhibition (Punta Gorda, FL) and won First Place in the Redfish Art Exhibition (Punta Gorda, FL.)

Some previous exhibitions and/or awards include:  The Henley Southeastern Spectrum for Contemporary Art (Winston-Salem, NC); Butler Institute of American Art – Award (Youngstown, OH); Trumbull Art Gallery (Warren, OH); Art Show at the Dog Show - Award (Wichita, KS); Exhibition for Animals in Art (Baton Rouge, LA.)

Within the last year other artwork she created includes painting a 6’ fiberglass clown for Tidewell Hospice (Sarasota, FL) and two 6’ fiberglass geckos for Bradenton’s Geckofest.

She serves on the Board of Directors for Venice Art Center and has currently ventured back into retail with her “Tiki Towne Collection” of hand painted and embellished masks.  They can be purchased at Tropical Memories on St. Armand’s Circle in Sarasota.
